Secretary Maureen Quinlan
| I became involved in Community Games in my local area in the late 1970 when my children were competing. We lived in an estate of 3,000 residents, where there were very limited opportunities for children for participation in sport. We had a soccer club and through Community Games children were able to take part in Athletics, Swimming, Gaelic, Badminton, Volleyball, Rounders, Cycling, Chess, Draughts, Table Tennis, Pitch & Putt, Art and Basketball. From this involvement clubs were established for all these activities to make them an all year round events. I became involved in the Dublin Executive Committee in the early 1980’s. Shortly after joining I became Assistant Secretary and a year later I became County Secretary. It is a very time consuming position. Over the years the work load has increased with the ever increasing number of activities and three National Finals Weekends. I am lucky to have an office and do not have to work from a corner of a kitchen or dining room. I am a Leinster Delegate and co-ordinate Dublin home matches for Leinster as well as helping out at their Finals. I was elected Company Secretary in 1993. I am secretary to the Board of Directors. I look after administration for National Appeals and at present I am the Authorised Signatory for Garda Vetting. |
