| Founder member of Ahascragh Caltra Community Games in the early seventies. Got involved with the Camogie, Girls Soccer, Girls Gaelic Football, & Athletics. Hold the position of chairman for many years. Elected to Galway County Committee in 1976, PRO in 1978, Vice President 1979 to 1982, elected as President in 1982 and Chairman in1985 to 1996. Elected to the National Games Committee in 1982 to 1984 and then as National Games Director until 2005, co-opted as Activities Director in 2008 and elected again in 2009. In 1974 attended a meeting in Denmark on behalf of Community Games. The DGI with whom we have had contact with for many years were proposing to form a International Sport & Culture Association (ISCA) Appointed to a working committee to draw up the statutes of this association. The following year at the first congress of ISCA was elected as 2nd Vice President and served in this position for six years |
